Procrastination

Welcome to my brand new blog! I started this process a few days ago, but it was all too hard. However, now that I've sort of hit the crucial point of TOO MUCH TO DO NOT ENOUGH TIME it is now the most natural thing in the world to create a blog and spend hours fiddling with the layout and then typing up and entry that just rambles on an on about silly mundane things instead of doing all the productive things that I should be doing.....

Moving on. The weather is rather disgustingly hot and humid today. It seems ridiculous to be gathering up all my warm clothes and stuff when I'm spending most of my day resisting the urge to strip down to my underwear, because a tank top and teeny boxers really isn't that much more than underwear :P

This is supposed to be an introduction post all about my upcoming trip to Germany, so I'm gonna try and talk about that stuff now. I'm leaving at 8am Wednesday morning, which means I have to be up at stupid o'clock to get to the airport at some ridiculous time before the flight. I arrive in Frankfurt at stupid o'clock local time on Thursday morning, and spend two nights there before catching a train to Stuttgart on Saturday, at the very reasonable time of 10am.

I haven't even started packing. Actually, that's kind of a lie. My Gran and my Mum keep dumping piles of stuff they think might be useful in my room, so I've dumped that stuff in my suitcase. Then I shoved the suitcase back under my bed. So far I have a couple of epic old lady coats, a couple of pairs of gigantic gloves, one of those see through plastic toiletries kits and a pile of those bags that you suck all the air out of so you can fit more into your suitcase. Yeah, I've totally started packing :P

I need to buy some more socks. Mum thought it would be a good idea for this year's Christmas socks to be of the thermal type. This would have been a good idea, except that she only bought me one pair. Those that know me, know that I ALWAYS wear odd socks. So one pair of thermal socks isn't going to do me much good. Either I have to find myself another pair tomorrow, or one of my little footsies is going to freeze.

I think I've pretty much got everything I need, I just need to organise it and put it all in my suitcase. Tomorrow is my last day before I leave, and I'll be doing last minute things like collecting my train ticket from the travel agent, finding some socks and buying vegemite and timtams. I emailed my host this morning. Her name is Marina and I think she's a bit strange, although that might just be her English skills. It was a bit difficult to contact her, and I still don't really know anything about her. I emailed her to ask her if she would like me to phone her when I get on the train to Stuttgart, and how I'm going to find her at the train station. This all still seems very far away, and I just can't bring myself to worry about details. I have a slight feeling in my belly that I'm going to regret all this lack of planning when I get there and find I'm lost in a strange city on the other side of the world and no one speaks English. But still, meh, I'll deal with that when I come to it.

The next time I post I should have left the country, but who knows, I may feel the need tomorrow when I really should be doing other things like packing :P
